First Annual Founder's Award

Dr. James and Thea Weilbaecher were presented the first annual Founder's Award for their outstanding commitment to Eliada's mission of 'Helping Children Succeed'.

On Tuesday, August 28, Dr. James and Thea Weilbaecher were presented the first annual Founder's Award for their outstanding commitment to Eliada's mission of 'Helping Children Succeed'. The award was given at a donor appreciation breakfast attended by local business leaders, board members, regional philanthropists, and Eliada students. The ceremony featured a keynote address by Senator Martin L. Nesbitt, Jr. and remarks from friends and colleagues of the Weilbaechers.
The Weilbaechers were recognized for their board service, support of enhanced services, and as generous benefactors of Eliada. The couple has been instrumental in helping to create Eliada's student golf program. Through securing donations of equipment from local country clubs, participating in grant applications, and seeking opportunities for the students to participate in area tournaments, the Weilbaechers have played a founding role in the development of golf programming for Eliada's students.

Athletics are an important component of the success of children in care. Through participation in competitive sport programs, young people gain confidence, character, and build healthy peer relationships. The golf program in particular provides students with the opportunity to have enriching experiences that they may not have access to otherwise.
