'Foster Parent Night Out' Focuses on Spirit of Giving
Event gives foster parents free time while providing service opportunities for children.
ASHEVILLE – December 2007 – On Thursday, December 13th from 6:00 – 8:30 pm children in Eliada’s foster care program will partner with foster care staff to bring cheer, laughter, love, and encouragement to the residents of Aston Park Health Care Center. Dozens of children will gather in the spirit of giving to spend time with center residents and participate in service projects.
According to Jenny Simmons, Eliada’s Foster Care Program director, “We’re hoping to instill in our children the importance of caring for others during this special time of the year. We also hope that while their foster children are at the center, parents will be able to take some time out of their busy schedules to complete those last-minute holiday errands.”
Eliada’s Foster Care Programs provide family and therapeutic foster homes for children who are in need of out of home placement. The number of children needing Foster Care is at its highest peak, with the number of children in need vastly exceeding the number that current foster families can serve. If you are interested in finding out more about how you can provide a home for a child, contact Meredith Hammond at 828-713-5423.
