Grand Opening of Eliada's Driving Range to be Held April 27th
Student practice range will open on April 27th.
ASHEVILLE – April 2008- On Sunday, April 27th at 5:00 pm Eliada will hold a grand opening celebration for the agency’s campus driving range. The driving range, which has been under construction since October, will be unveiled at the pre-event dinner for the Inaugural Eliada Charity Classic. The golf tournament, presented by thelittlestgolfer.com, will be held the following day at Asheville Country Club.
The driving range was made possible through a generous donation from Dr. & Mrs. James Weilbaecher. Dr. Weilbaecher is a member of Eliada’s Board of Trustees, and a longtime supporter of the student golf program. Additional funding for the driving range was provided by the United States Golf Association (USGA).
The driving range will support student and family golf instruction for the many students served by Eliada’s residential, day treatment, foster care, community support, and child development programs. The new golf program will be part of Eliada’s continuum of Enhanced Services, which currently includes seven competitive athletic teams, a therapeutic equestrian program, and a minibike program. These services augment the mental health programs at Eliada by providing incentives for goal attainment and opportunities to develop confidence and character.
Eliada’s students look forward with great anticipation to the opening of the practice range. They will be in attendance at the grand opening event, as will tournament participants, volunteers, board members, and key supporters of the program. The event will feature catering by 12 Bones, deserts from Old Europe, and golf challenge games similar to those seen on the television program ‘Big Break’. The media is invited to attend.
