Registration Opens for the Second Annual Monster Dash 5K
ASHEVILLE – August 2008 – Registration has opened for the 2nd Annual Monster Dash 5K. The event will take place Saturday, October 25th at 9:00 am. This challenging trail run will traverse through Eliada’s historic and wooded campus, which will be decorated in a Halloween theme especially for the event. Runners will pass through the ‘haunted orchard’, an old cemetery, and along the spooky trail before crossing the spider web finish line. Runners are encouraged to wear family-friendly costumes. Prizes will be awarded to the top 3 male and female age category winners and the top 3 winners overall, as well as for best costume.
The Monster Dash 5K qualifies as an Asheville Track Club Grand Prix race. Registration is $20 and includes chip timing, snacks & beverages, and a t-shirt for the first 100 registrants. The event will also include a free 1-mile fun run, registration for which will be on-site the day of the race.

Later in the day, the course will become the “Trick or Treat Trail”. Sponsors of the 5K will be on hand to pass out candy to invited children’s groups along the wooded trail. Face painting and other children’s activities will also be available.
