ASHEVILLE – January 2008- On Thursday, March 6 at 8:00 pm, Asheville Community Theatre will host a special opening night showing of ‘Schoolhouse Rock- Live’ to benefit Eliada Homes for Children.
ASHEVILLE – January 2008- Tickets
are available at a reduced price of $15 for adults, $12 for seniors, and $10 for children, students, and groups of 10 or more. The event will also feature a family-friendly reception at 7:00 pm featuring nostalgic treats such as root beer floats, old-fashioned candies, and much more.
Parents may remember ‘Schoolhouse Rock’ as the pop-culture phenomenon that popularized such songs as “Conjunction Junction”, “Just a Bill”, “Lolly, Lolly, Lolly”, and many others. The central character is Tom, a school teacher nervous about his first day of teaching. Tom tries to relax by watching TV when various characters emerge from the set and show him how to win his students over with imagination and music. The performance promises to be educational and fun for kids, and a trip down memory lane for their parents.
If you’d like to support this event but cannot attend, Eliada is asking community members to consider buying tickets to donate to the agency. These tickets will be given to the youth who live on Eliada’s campus, allowing them to attend ‘Schoolhouse Rock’ as well. To buy tickets for yourself or one of Eliada’s children, contact Kristen Brown at 828.254.5356 x 156, or via email at kbrown@eliada.org.
