Sponsor an Eliada Child for Christmas

ASHEVILLE – November 2008 – The joy of Christmas is fast approaching.  Children around the world wait 364 days for the arrival of their favorite Christmas Eve visitor.  The holiday season is filled with hope, excitement and family gatherings.  Unfortunately, too many children live without this eager anticipation. For these children, the Christmas season can be a sad reminder of all that is missing in their lives.

Now, Eliada is offering individuals, church groups, and businesses the opportunity to make Christmas brighter for children in need. Each year, Eliada asks the community to help provide gifts for children in Eliada’s continuum of care. According to Michelle Robinson, Eliada’s Development Director, “Sponsoring a child for Christmas is incredibly easy. We’ll provide each sponsor with a wish list that details the needs and interests of an individual child. Sponsors are given a limit of $150 to shop for their child. Sponsors can also choose to provide a simple cash donation and we’ll take care of the shopping for them.”

While Christmas may seem far away, Eliada is asking those interested in sponsoring a child to contact the agency as early in the holiday season as possible. “The holidays will be here before we know it, and it’s always our priority to ensure that we leave enough time to make sure each child is covered.”

Eliada needs help in other ways around the Christmas season, too. Individuals who want to help provide holiday meals, stuff stockings, or volunteer for special events are always needed. Christmas is also a great time to make year-end gifts while honoring the holiday spirit of giving. Anyone who would like to sponsor a child or help in other ways should contact Michelle Robinson at 828.254.5356 x 157 or via email at mrobinson@eliada.org.
