Thunderbolt 5K Team Has Impressive Showing at Firecracker 5K

Firecracker 5KEliada's Thunderbolt running team participated in the annual Weaverville Firecracker 5K on July 4, 2007. Eliada staff member and team coach Amanda Chase (pictured) was the first woman to cross the finish line, completing the race in an impressive 19:05. CEO Mark Upright, staff member Clark Spears, and several Eliada students also ran in the race, with many finishing between second and fourth in their age bracket.

The Eliada Thunderbolt running team began three years ago and has been going strong ever since. Participants run in 5K races all over the Western North Carolina area, including the Biltmore/Kiwanis 5K, Bent Creek 5K, and many others. Soon, they will also have the opportunity to run in Eliada's own 5K event! The first annual Monster Dash 5K and Family Fun Run will be held on October 20, 2007. Volunteers are still needed to help prepare the trail, sponsor the event, staff water stations, and run in the race.
