Tim Kelley, Tres Hundertmark Honored for Service to Eliada
Tim Kelley and Tres Hundertmark received the Founder's Award and Volunteer of the Year Award at the agency's annual Founder's Day breakfast.
ASHEVILLE – May 15, 2008 – On Thursday, May 15, the recipients of the 2008 Founder’s Award and Volunteer of the Year award were announced at Eliada’s annual Founder’s Day breakfast. The event, held each spring, celebrates the birthday of Eliada founder Dr. Lucius B. Compton and recognizes the continuation of his legacy through the work of volunteers, board members, staff members, and supporters of the agency. The keynote speaker of the event was Bruce Kimble, the son of an Eliada alumni, who traveled from Virginia to speak to that legacy and what it has represented in the lives of the Kimble family members.
The recipient of the 2008 Founder’s Award was Tim Kelley, who has served on Eliada’s Board of Trustees for over sixteen years. Mr. Kelley has twenty years of experience in the banking industry and is a CPA with Dixon-Hughes. The award was presented by Ken Hughes, co-founding partner of Dixon-Hughes, who noted Kelley’s commitment to faith, service, and family.
Eliada CEO Mark Upright said of Kelley “He has worked tirelessly and often behind the scenes as President of the Eliada Foundation board, carefully managing the investments of the foundation, recommending wise decisions, and ensuring the future of the agency. His tenacity and attention to detail brings organization and accountability to our financial processes. Not only that, but he is consistently one of our most generous supporters, giving selflessly of not only his time but also his personal resources.”
In accepting the award, Kelley reflected on his own childhood and reiterated his commitment to helping those less fortunate children in our community. “Every child deserves our love and attention. There is no greater cause than serving kids,” said Kelley. His wife, Leeann, and many of his colleagues were in attendance.
The Volunteer of the Year award was given to Tres Hundertmark, Executive Chef of The Lobster Trap, for his service in organizing the agency’s annual trout rodeo. The trout rodeo is a partnership of Sunburst Trout Farm, The Lobster Trap, and other restaurants that support Eliada students in a day of fun and fishing. The catch is sold at area restaurants, with proceeds benefiting Eliada. This year’s event is sponsored by Greenlife Grocery and will be held June 22nd. Hundertmark has been instrumental in spearheading the fundraiser, mobilizing other business leaders to become involved, and securing donations.
“My fondest memories growing up are spending the day fishing. To give Eliada’s children the opportunity to do that through our work at the restaurant is a great thing,” said Hundertmark. He also recognized the Eason family, Lila Waldron, and the Beard family for their service and involvement in organizing the event.
