Residential Treatment

reynoldsEliada Homes, Inc.’s (EHI) Residential Treatment Program serves high-risk students with a history of emotional and/or behavioral problems who are in need of  residential care and treatment. Treatment, structure and safety are provided by highly qualified, well-trained staff in a setting with a low staff-to-student ratio.  The Program is licensed by the NC Division of Facility Services and is accredited by the Council on Accreditation (COA).

Program Components:

  • Staffing:  The agency and its administrative and programmatic staff have extensive experience in working with high-risk students. The program and staff have the ability to work successfully with challenging students who need structure and guidance. Many staff members working in the residential units hold master’s and bachelor’s level degrees. All staff receive intensive pre-service training in Eliada’s behavioral, educational, and clinical service delivery model (Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT)), as well as Therapeutic Crisis Intervention, First Aid/CPR, and ongoing in-service training on team-oriented service delivery, case management, family work, working with dual diagnosis students, and behavioral management techniques.  Each facility is supervised by both Associate and Qualified Mental Health Professionals.
  • Clinical Services:  Clinical services students are approached in a thorough, systematic manner, allowing students access to individual, group, and family therapy through Eliada’s licensed clinicians. Ongoing clinical supervision is provided for program managers, case managers, and direct care staff to ensure that the clinical needs of all students served will be met.  Students in the PRTF attend group therapy with a licensed clinician twice per week.

  • Medical/Psychiatric Care:  Eliada contracts with a local psychiatrist to provide psychiatric evaluations, medication checks, and consultation at clinical staffings. Students also have access to a nurse to assess and treat routine medical needs.  In addition, the PRTF is staffed by full-time Family Nurse Practitioners and Overnight Awake LPN staff.

  • Educational Needs:  Students attend Public School or our on-campus day treatment program designed to meet their behavioral and academic needs.  Eliada’s on-campus school parallels the public school curriculum and meets Day Treatment standards. Certified Teachers and Educational Treatment Specialists in a small classroom setting provide specialized and individualized attention for each student. PRTF students attend an educational program within the secure setting. This small classroom setting provides specialized and individualized attention for each student.

  • Recreational Programs/Community Involvement:  Recreational programs are designed by the Recreational Coordinator, including team sports, physical fitness activities, a therapeutic horseback riding program, therapeutic outdoors activities, and swimming.  Community service activities and group work projects which focus on increasing self-esteem through helping others are an important part of Eliada’s program. Recreational programs for PRTF students are also designed by the Recreational Coordinator and may be limited by the need for a secure setting. The secured program has a fenced-in outdoor recreational area, as well as access to exercise equipment. PRTF students who are making behavioral progress may have opportunities for occasional recreational activities outside of the locked setting, but are not involved in off-campus recreational activities.

  • Case Coordination:  Students are assigned an Eliada case manager to coordinate care while in treatment. This service helps to focus on family involvement in service planning, plan of care meetings, and the student's treatment program. All case managers meet qualified/associate professional standards.
