Courtney

Courtney, December 2011

Courtney came to us from the public school system with problems including suspension, cursing, threats and aggression.  In the school setting Courtney was defiant, stubborn and had no respect for authority.  She was excessively tardy and did not enjoy attending school.

Since Courtney has been at Eliada, she has grown expotentially.  She keeps a positive mood and displays effort in all her classes.  She is the first person to offer to help others and is working hard on maintaining focus even when her peers are off task.  Courtney now enjoys coming to school and has improved her attendance remarkably.

Coutney has built trust with staff, increased the ability to express herself in writing and can be helpful to others, most especially younger students.  Courtney smiles much more than when she came to us and is polite and respectful to adults. In the public school setting, Courtney was unable to ask for help when she didn’t understand something, but is finding her voice and being respectful as she does it.

One of Courtney’s favorite things at Eliada has been working with the horses that are a part of our therapeutic animal stewardship program. She shows great responsibility and is a positive peer mentor for the younger students.  She shows poise, maturity and initiative and loves caring for the animals who live at Eliada.

Courtney will be leaving us shortly to go back to her public school and feels that she has the tools she needs to succeed and be happy. Congratulations, Courtney!
